District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan Flags Off Communicable Disease Control Awareness Rally in Gonda

Gonda: A district-wide awareness rally under the Communicable Disease Control Campaign was flagged off from the Collectorate premises by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan. The initiative aims to promote public awareness about the prevention and control of seasonal communicable diseases through community participation and improved sanitation practices.

The rally witnessed the participation of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Santlal Patel, students from SCPM College, officials and employees from the Health Department and other government departments, along with a large number of local residents.

Before the rally commenced, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan administered a pledge to participants, urging them to remain vigilant against communicable diseases, maintain cleanliness, adopt preventive measures against mosquito-borne illnesses, and keep their surroundings clean and hygienic. She emphasized that public participation is crucial in preventing the spread of communicable diseases and said that making cleanliness a part of daily life can significantly reduce health risks.

Addressing the gathering, the District Magistrate stated that the campaign would be implemented through coordinated efforts of the Health Department, Urban Local Bodies, Basic Education Department, Panchayati Raj Department and several other agencies. Activities planned under the campaign include sanitation drives in rural and urban areas, fogging operations, anti-larval spraying, distribution and use of bleaching powder, public awareness programmes, poster competitions in schools and community outreach rallies.

The awareness rally passed through major roads and key intersections of the city, with participants carrying placards carrying health and hygiene messages. Slogans such as “Stay Clean, Stay Healthy,” “Drive Away Mosquitoes, Eliminate Disease,” and “Keep Homes and Surroundings Clean, Keep Fever Away” echoed throughout the route, drawing public attention to the importance of disease prevention.

Among those present on the occasion were Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Aditya Verma, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. C.K. Verma, DCPM Dr. R.P. Singh, the District Malaria Officer and several other officials associated with the campaign.

The district administration expressed confidence that the campaign would help strengthen public awareness and encourage collective action to prevent communicable diseases during the monsoon season.
